John Perry is a Director and Head of Mechanical Engineering of Urban Systems Design, with over 45 years of professional experience in the design of MEP systems for award-winning low energy buildings and masterplan projects with particular skills on large scale, complex projects. He was formerly a founding Director of BDSP and Board Director at ChapmanBDSP. 

John is involved in the inception of all schemes to help ensure the bold environmental ideas can be closely tied to well-designed low energy systems.  He has broad experience working internationally in the UAE, EU, Africa and Asia. John is a highly experienced mechanical engineer with a relentless focus on seeking simplicity and clarity in design, efficiency and clear communication and documentation of technical information. He has a particular attention to detail in design and seeks opportunities to drive innovation and simplifying the complex into robust yet elegant technical design solutions.

John’s role then extends through detailed design and delivery to ensure a high-quality product both in design and construction. He also leads our technical oversight on projects and is responsible for establishing technical standards, specifications and pioneering the use of BIM on design projects.
