Dubai Observation Tower, UAE
Overview
Santiago Calatrava Architects and Engineers’ monumental design for the iconic, at least 800m tall observation tower in Dubai Creek Harbour is influenced by the natural forms of the desert lily and evokes the shape of a minaret, a distinctive architectural feature in Islamic culture.
Key Design Features
A sophisticated design for the services was developed to deal with the high pressures evolving over the tall and slender stem, which serves as pine of the structure;
A sustainable cooling system will also provide water for cleaning the exterior of the tower;
The building’s numerous observation decks are part of an elongated, oval-shaped bud at the top of the tower, serving together with restaurants and a boutique hotel as a meeting point for citizens from all over the world.
